Learning From Practice is an annual conference of the McDowell Foundation that ensures Foundation-funded researchers have the opportunity to share their project experiences and outcomes with their colleagues across the province. This year’s conference was on February 3 and featured Charlene Bearhead, the education lead at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation at the University of Manitoba. Bearhead spoke about reconciliation in education and invited questions from attendees. Research teams also presented on their work in a number of areas including: physical literacy, mentorship, visual literacy, early years literacy, parental engagement in the primary years, treaty education and more.
The 2016-17 school year is an exciting one for the McDowell Foundation as they celebrate 25 years of professionally led research supporting teaching and learning in the province. There will be a number of events marking this milestone year including the gala anniversary celebration, which took place on February 3. Here is a collection of photos taken at the conference and gala.
