Fay Humbert is the new Associate Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation following a recent meeting of the STF Executive.
Humbert replaces Randy Schmaltz, who in turn succeeded Gwen Dueck as the Executive Director of the Federation following her retirement as of March 31.
Humbert, a former high school administrator, joined the STF in 2012 and served on the senior administrative staff. During this time she has been involved in the provincial collective bargaining process and has also served on the Teacher Education and Certification Committee with the Saskatchewan Professional Teachers Regulatory Board.
She served as principal at two Saskatoon high schools–Centennial Collegiate from August 2009 to June 2011 after having served two years in the same capacity at Evan Hardy Collegiate.
Prior to that, Humbert was assistant principal at Mount Royal Collegiate.
Her time at Centennial included her being named among Canada’s 32 Outstanding Principals from the Learning Partnership organization.
Humbert moved on to the division office with Saskatoon Public Schools where she was a facilitator. She also was involved with the division’s Collegiate Renewal initiative.
Humbert has participated in action research with the McDowell Foundation on two occasions, and has gained both her bachelor of education and master of education in special education from the University of Saskatchewan.
